Baby Shower Invites

My friend Jasmine is having a baby in early January. I organised her baby shower. This was the invitation and display box that I put on the staffroom table for people who could make the afternoon of fun. Along with the invitations I made some chocolate slides for prizes.

My greatest Creation!

One of my other hobbies in life is photography. I am always playing around with the camera while taking a zillion photos of my beautiful little boy. I think we are seriously getting close to a zillion pics and he is only 7 and a half months old. I love taking close up shots of all his expressions. I feel like he is growing so fast that I might miss something if I don't take a photos of his daily interactions. These three pics are just a few of my favourites from the weekends carpet play we had.

Still Alive!

Hi all!
Just wanted to say that I'm still alive.......eventhough I'm totally over moving, packing and cleaning. All my craft gear is boxed and ready to be placed in my new craft room (or in Dunc's mind - his study). Looking forward to getting back into all the projects I've been receiving from U Stamp 08 Holiday projects. They have created some great projects ready for Christmas.

We should be in the new house by this time next week. Expect soem new posts after that!

K Werner Colour inspiration

I should really be loading up boxes to move house but I had to give this challenge a go. I love this party chick stamp. I've only used it once before. This time I layered the party chick and the present then coloured it in using my water pastel pencils.

This is the colour inspiration set for this task.

Made it into the Ten Randomly selected items on the K Werner Colour Challenge 22

After finally getting around to making an entry for colour inspiration 22 I was very excited to see that my first entry got into the ten randomly selected section.

Thanks to all the stampin girls who have made such positive comments about my card. From these comments I also saw that there was alot of interest in what I used to create the striped background paper. For this I used a Stampin' Around - Triple Line Plaid wheel. I don't have the fancy stampin handle (YET!!!) so i used a skewer threaded through the hole. It did the trick!!

K Werner Colour Inspiration 22

I've been wanting to participate in the K Werner Colour Imspiration for such a long time. Usually by the time I've realised there is a new colour scheme set I've missed the cut off time. But today I was determined and Emerson decided to be a good boy for Mummy.....napping just at the right time.
So, here is my attempt at using the above colour scheme to make a card for a friends up and coming birthday. I think I'll be using this colour combination again. The little bit of blue with all the pinkish tones is a nice touch.

Happy Father's Day Poppy!!!

My Dad just loves his Little Henry (Emerson - that's the name Dad has given to him due to his middle name being Henry like my Pop was called). At the moment he is about 17 hours away. So I don't think we'll be getting to see him this Father's Day. Due to the distance between us and him I thought I would get cracking and send him a personalised gift from Emerson (and Me).
I ended up making him a concertina album (a bit like Dunc's but bigger) and a pouch to keep it in. That way we may have some hope of keeping the album in one piece (You know what men are like when they cart things around with them).
Again I used a combination of black and white photos with rub-ons and ribbon. It's funny how just a couple of words added to a photo can say so much about the people in the photo.
This side has a variety of expressions made by Emy over the last few weeks.
Where as this side is quite serious and was taken on the same day. The front image almost looks like Emerson is looking right into your eyes. I'm sure Dad will be showing off his Little Henry to all the locals at Opalton, as soon as he gets this gift. Watching your parents take on the role of Grandparent is a beautiful thing!!!!

My Hubby's First Fathers Day Gift

This year will be my Husband, Duncan's first Fathers Day. He's going to do pretty well out of it. He already knows about the major gift which is a retro 1970s Surfboard that he has been trying to get for his collection for ages. He's very spoilt...i know! But he is an amazing husband and father. We are having to wait for the board to be couriered from Sydney to the Gold Coast and eventually up to us when a family member is travelling up our way. Due to the wait I wanted something for Emerson to give his Daddy on the big day.
I saw this cute little box on the Linsey Rickett Blog. I then printed off a selection on Bubby and Daddy photos and created a little concertina fold album . After creating the album, I then used a white gel pen to finish the sentence.......My Dad... After that I added special words with rub-ons.

The album fits perfectly into the little box.

I hope Dunc loves it . Some of the photos of them together are just so precious.

August Card Challenges from Gina

You may have previously seen on my blog that I regularly enter the colour and sketch challenges that Gina from Stampin with Gina puts out each month.

This month for the colour challenge we weren't told what colours to use. We were given a photo and from there we had to decide what colours we thought were in the image.....plus we had to use one button. I decided on Orange, Black and White but my friend Helen used brown in her creations also. When i took another look at the photo, there definately was quite a bit of brown that i hadn't seen. Next time I'll think outside the square! I ended up making this pocket card (a first for me) using several different stamps (I'm addicted to scrolls!) combined together and then used a white gel pen to create the stitch lines. Finally I added the punched flowers, button and some orange jewellery making wire.

Then for the sketch challenge I used the layout given by Gina to make this baby card (So many people I know are having babies!). I usually stamp my own backgrounds but I found this beautiful pack of Stampin Up card that I had intended to use for Emerson's Scrapbook (must get to that one day). I then used my pastel pencils to shade the middle image. I've only just started using this technique and i'm loving how versitile it makes stamps.

Just playing around!

I've been a bit quite of late. We've decided to buy a house on five acres which has meant organising our home for sale. This has meant always having the house ready for people to look through. I'm always generally tidy but now I have to put everything away after using it. But i've finally got back to my (now tidy) craft area.

Years ago I purchased some jars of embossing powder. I've just recently dug them out of my (bomb site) craft cupboard. I thought I would have a bit of a play with them. I used puffy white on the dots for the green card and purple embossing powder for the large circles on the background of the purple card. I used my toaster to melt the powder, it did an ok job but I think I'll be investing in a craft heat gun soon....just to make life easier (and also it will be a good excuse to start trying out a new product that I just love the look of - called Opal).

The same card 2 different ways

I was asked to make this card for a friends Mother in-law. She requested the colours Pale blue and silver with a little black and white. I wasn't totally happy with my first card so I decided to make another and I'll let her chose when she comes to pick it up.

Cutest Cupcakes!!

I found the pattern for this cupcake card ages ago when I was travelling from one blog to another. I just never got around to making a batch. The pattern for this card comes from www.linseyrickett.blogspot.com She also has an ice cream cone card. Expect to see these on my page soon.

These cards were very easy to make and took very little time. I'm keen to make a whole range of them. I'm going to get out my recipe books to get some ideas for flavours.
